PROGRAMME
The aim of Inversie is to support young, talented artists in developing an independent and thriving professional practice. Key concepts within the programme include knowledge sharing, community building, interdisciplinary collaboration, reciprocity and continuous development. On a weekly basis, the programme offers activities such as studio visits, expert meetings, workshops and sessions for in-depth critical reflection and the further development of practical skills. In addition, several work periods and presentations are scheduled to encourage experimentation, experience, group cohesion and network building.
BUSINESS VISITS & EXPERT MEETINGS
This part of the programme consists of business and field visits within the cultural sector, offering insight into a wide range of individuals and institutions that together represent a significant part of the Brabant arts and cultural landscape. The expert meetings focus more strongly on national and international ambitions. Representatives from funding bodies and network organisations are invited to provide insight into funding opportunities, support structures and relevant schemes.
ART DIALOGUE SESSIONS
Critical reflection is a recurring element of the programme through the Art Dialogue Sessions. These sessions take the form of two-hour discussions in which a single artwork by a participating artist is explored in depth. Guided by a moderator and involving fellow participants as well as external professionals, an atmosphere of “productive tension” is created, allowing multiple aspects of the work to be questioned and discussed based on the perspectives, knowledge and experience of the group.
WORKSHOPS
Throughout the programme, Inversie offers a range of workshops, including sessions on setting priorities for personal goals and strengthening entrepreneurial skills. Special attention is also given to writing within one’s own practice through the ‘Vocabulary’ module, in which critical analysis is combined with methods for writing different types of texts.
WORK PERIODS
To broaden individual practice, encourage experimentation and deepen the group process, multi-week work periods are scheduled. These take place at partner locations and offer strong opportunities for collaboration, as well as for the exchange of knowledge and working methods. Each work period is concluded collectively with a presentation of the work produced.
PRESENTATIONS
At the end of each edition of Inversie, there is a joint presentation by the participating artists of that edition.
For this presentation, we collaborate with partners or venues with a national reach, through which the work of the artists becomes visible to a wider audience and relevant network.
